After catching up with some friends we hadn't seen in a while last week, we spent part of our weekend trawling through boxes of old photos and attempting to put them in some sort of order.

S found a photo a friend had sent me from the botanic gardens in Canada somewhere, with a stone dinosaur in amongst the rose bushes, which led to the following conversation ...

S : Is that a rhinoceros?

K : No ... it's a dinosaur.

S (sounding disbelieving) : A real one ?

K (in tones of "how stupid can you get?") : No of course not ... (pause) ... Mum's not that old !!

Peas in a pod?

Some of you may recall we hosted a Japanese exchange student for about a month around this time last year. At the moment we are hosting another student for a month.

Last year, we only found out the day before he left that our student actually had a camera ... he had taken twelve photos during his four week stay in New Zealand.

Our current visitor informed me this morning his memory card on his camera is nearly full ... he has taken 3,600 photos !!!

And it's only Day Five !!!

Today's highlight ?

I am ridiculously excited by my new dining table.

It's sitting there, immense in all its woody gloriousness.

Moving around it is a tight squeeze at this point, but we are "future planning".

Walls will be removed to accommodate this table.

But gosh it's pretty.

The highlight of my day ?

It's sunny and I have towels hanging on the clothes line for the first time in months.

I need to find a hobby ...
